Vice Adm. Stufflebeem gives false official statement - should cost him his job & rank stripped
05.19.08 (7:43 pm)   [edit]

Fair & balanced reporting by Chris Amos, Navy Times

What’s regrettable about the story of Vice Adm. John Stufflebeem’s fall from grace is that after he was caught lying be began a campaign to discredit the woman he had the affair with indicating that she was lying. He further tightened the noose by replying with a false (official) statement that he “would not knowingly give false or misleading testimony, as it would run counter to the primary ethical value and character by which I have lived throughout my career as a Naval Officer.”

The arrogance and audacity of Stufflebeem’s rebuttal to the truth is astonishing for such a professional man although not uncommon for the New Moral Man found lying through his teeth.  It’s the audacity at which these fallen men (and women where appropriate) think they can deflect blame onto someone else other than themselves that’s so galling.

This flaw in the New Moral Man is something to be reckoned with, the least of which is making them accountable for their actions by firing them. Then it’s up to the moral and religious leaders to tackle this problem head-on in the public forum along with condemnation of unethical behavior as a whole. The next step is to address unethical behavior in the school system and in the home - starting with the parents.

How else are we to address this national problem?
