I am so disgusted with him that I can no longer stand to look at him, I immediately change the station. So many of our young people are getting killed and it doesn't seem to faze him.when will it all end? posted by: commontater (reply) post date: 05.25.07 (10:35 pm) Reply to: LadyG I hear you, LadyG. It doesn't make much sense to me to ignore the safety of our communities at a time when so many illegals are swarming in. All the monies we taxpayers give up to the .government are going into this war. Our country will suffer greatly before things get better. It's hard for me to believe sometimes that this is America! posted by: Lindy (reply) post date: 06.19.07 (11:11 am) Hi, PuC. The plight of illegal immigrants has been a subject I generally steer away from in your blog. Why? Because I'm not so sure it's as cut and dried as some claim. Call me a hippy, but I can't for the life of me condone casting folks out, pointing at any particular background to account for failings in society, nor can I understand this territorial dispute for a land that was founded by immigrants. I read an article somewhere, can't remember now where or when, but I do remember it concerned an individual who seemed to share the opinions of the illustrious David Duke, regarding Hispanics coming into our cities and taking our jobs, eating up our resources, etc. That person was flown down to the Texas/Mexico border and spent a little time talking to some of the locals, including a little girl who was in the country illegally and who hoped one day to attend college. The man who was so hard set against these people wept that day. He came too close to the humanity of their plight, of all of our plights and he went home a changed man. He left the group of people who were feverishly campaigning to stop the Hispanics and they were all really scratching their heads over it. The bottom line is that we're ALL in this together and all this border protecting and exclusion are distractions from the real problem. A problem that you and I talk about quite a bit. Community doesn't have borders - not real community. But you seem pretty firm in your views about this. I am quite sure I won't be changing your mind. I just thought I'd leave a little bit of mine here for you to read. :) By the way, I do believe the .gov is setting us up to run amok at some point, but I don't think they see it coming. It may well be the best thing that ever happens to us.. anarchy, melt down, a new start, at a great cost, I'm sure. Who knows.. |
